Seed of Fury: Zolia's Revenge

Book Review -

Zolia's Revenge is the first book in the Seed of Fury series written by Joe Antony Sebastin. The premises is set in Roman times and depict their atrocities, backstabbing, and denigrating to women that led to the downfall of their clan.

The two sisters were born with a prophecy and considered the daughters of Goddess Minerva in Cures (an ancient Sabine town). The elder one is named Ronica - The Revolter, and the younger one is named Zolia - The Crusader. Both the sisters have different qualities and views about life, but they love and support each other.

While Ronica immersed herself in domestic work and Zolia in dance, time flies, and they become women and fall in love. Everything is going well in Cures, but their neighboring country named Roma faces concerns about their future.

King Romulus of Roma asked different tribes that they marry their women and girls to Roman men, but his request was immediately declined because of Roman's obscene orgies. So, King and his advisors devise an occasion to honor their God and invite every tribe. Unfortunately, on the day of the event, King Romulus ordered his men to abduct women and girls; they killed men who fought to save their daughters, mothers, and kids.

They raped women and girls, so they were left with no choice but to marry their abuser. Unfortunately, King Romulus's exorbitant and horrific plan worked, and many women accepted their fate, except our protagonist Ronica and Zolia. The daughters of Minerva shared a dreadful abuser named Proculus Maxim; he tormented the sisters for a long time, but they didn't lose hope and spent every day thinking that one day their family would come for them.

Day by day, their misery and anguish increased, and they realized that no one was coming, and they had to take revenge themselves for all the misdeeds done by Romans. Their bodies were feeble, but they are strong-willed women, a daughter of Minerva, and their spirits are as powerful as the tiger's roar. But they need help to survive and plot revenge. Will they get the aid? Will they accept their fate or fight till their last breath?

The story has many aspects and different storylines that come together as one very well. It has prophecies, witches, daughters of a Goddess, strong female characters, genuine love interests, fictitious creatures, devious sinners with malicious intent, and corrupt morals, making this story more exciting and a page-turner.

The only thing that I felt missing is the cast of characters list to keep track of them and their relations to each other. Apart from this, the book is fantastic, fast-paced, plot-driven, and adorned with beautiful illustrations. Kudos to Joe Antony Sebastin, and I'm looking forward to reading more books from him soon.

Trigger Warning - It has violence, sex, obscene language, and depictions; that's why I recommend this book to only adult readers.
